Running stitch

I recently discovered a running program that I’ve seen crop up on a few other craft blogs: Couch to 5k. Apparently running is quite popular with  crafters – must be all that time we spend sitting around on our butts …

Because I fall under the “couch potato” category, I decided that I would give it a go! The idea is to gradually build up the amount of time you spend running against the time you spend walking and after 8 short weeks, you can run 5k! What’s really great is that my husband has been coming with me which has motivated me to push myself. We are currently at the end of week 2 and so far it’s been fun.

Before having kids it was easy to fit in a trip to the gym but 6 years down the line, aside from walking everywhere, I don’t really do any exercise. This way I only need 30 minutes 3 times a week to be able to keep up with the program and I don’t need to feel guilty about sitting around on my bum knitting and crocheting! Especially as I’m busy with it at the moment – I have a way of taking on too many projects. I have improved tho – now instead of casting on multiple projects at a time, now I just queue them up. My Ravelry queue’s getting a bit crazy but at least I’m not carting around 25 different projects in my bag!

Here’s my current crochet project:

Bon weekend!

  1. Hi Laura, I hope you are well. I have been reading your blogs through Facebook for a while as I have become a keen knitter in the last few years (although I’ve been waylaid with tapestry recently!). I couldn’t not comment when I saw you were doing Couch to 5K though as I am too and am about at the same point as you (one more week 3 run to go!). Feels like forever since we were at Kendrick but I still have very happy memories of German classes. Your two little ones look absolutely gorgeous by the way! Hope the running continues to go well. I’m a bit nervous about week 5!

    Best wishes
